RESPONSIBLE FOR: Assisting pharmacist with routine duties in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of all patients. Processing patient unit-dose medications and admixture of medications to IV solutions. Replenishing medications.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate enrolled in accredited Pharmacy school or taking pre-pharmacy classes and in good academic standing. Current Intern License on file with the State Board of Pharmacy. Typing and computer skills and experience. Good written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate appropriately. Ability to work effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests. Must be able to lift boxes, push carts, and walk/stand for majority of shift worked. Must be physically able to operate the equipment used for the job.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Procures and distributes medication orders per Physician request, Pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols accurately and timely using all equipment appropriately.
2. Facilitates proper delivery of patient medications.
3. Accurately processes charges/credits for all patient accounts.
4. Replenishes Automated Medication Dispensing Systems accurately and efficiently.
5. Prepares and maintains medications for all required areas.
6. Performs duties of IV TECH as assigned, under supervision.
7. Assists in the training of new employees.
8. Completes documentation.
9. Assists with Continuous Value Improvement/Department Projects
10. Communicates with others.
